Tamarindus Pod
£4.00
Tamarindus pods are exclusive to Naturekind Ltd and are used in aquariums as a natural botanical to provide environmental enrichment, enhance water quality, and add aesthetic appeal. A firm favourite with shrimp keepers, micro-fish keepers, and catfish enthusiasts, their unique shape and texture offer hiding spots and surfaces for foraging, encouraging natural behaviors, reducing stress, and contributing to a visually appealing, biologically enriching aquarium environment. As the pods slowly release tannins and organic compounds, they help gently lower pH, provide mild antibacterial and antifungal protection, and recreate the leaf-littered habitats many freshwater species naturally inhabit.
Note: You will receive one Tamarindus pod per order.
Adding botanicals to your aquarium will result in the release of humic substances, which will lower the pH of the aquarium water, act as an antibacterial and antifungal agent, and also lower the heavy metal content of the water. It is widely accepted that it acts as a spawning trigger and can aid in the recovery of any fish damaged through stress or fighting. The leaves will naturally float, but most will sink within 24 hours or so. There are no rules for how much to add, so some care and an element of trial and error based on different leaf types is required.
