Lotus Pod
£3.00
Lotus pods are used in aquariums as a natural botanical to enrich the environment, enhance water quality, and have a wonderful aesthetic appeal. As they slowly release tannins and organic compounds, they help gently lower pH, provide mild antibacterial and antifungal protection, and recreate the natural leaf-littered habitats found in freshwater ecosystems. Their unique shapes and textures offer hiding spots and surfaces for foraging, promoting natural behaviors and reducing stress, while adding visual interest and a striking, natural element to the aquarium. Note: You will receive 1 lotus pod per order.
Adding botanicals to your aquarium will result in the release of humic substances, which will lower the pH of the aquarium water, act as an antibacterial and antifungal agent, and also lower the heavy metal content of the water. It is widely accepted that it acts as a spawning trigger and can aid in the recovery of any fish damaged through stress or fighting. The leaves will naturally float, but most will sink within 24 hours or so. There are no rules for how much to add, so some care and an element of trial and error based on different leaf types is required.
