Annona Leaves

Annona leaves grow naturally along the rivers and in the rainforests of the Amazon and Orinoco regions in South America, and contain several beneficial compounds that aid in the health and immunity of your fishes.  Adding authentic Amazonian leaves that your fish will be familiar with is highly enriching for them.

Adding dead leaves will result in the release of humic substances, which will lower the pH of the aquarium water, act as an antibacterial and antifungal agent, and also lower the heavy metal content of the water. It is widely accepted that it acts as a spawning trigger and can aid in the recovery of any fish damaged through stress or fighting. The leaves will naturally float, but most will sink within 24 hours or so. There are no rules for how much to add, so some care and an element of trial and error based on different leaf types is required.
