“At the heart of my brand Naturekind, is the desire to genuinely reconnect our pets with nature and make their experience during their time in our care, one that is ethical, enriching, and authentic. During my time exploring rivers, rainforests, mountains, and mangroves across the world, I’ve seen so many species in their natural habitats. Through all of my experiences and travels, something occurred to me that dramatically shifted my perspective on petkeeping. The pet trade plays a vital role in inspiring so many people to take up careers in conservation, and more broadly, with nature, it also provides income for many communities who would otherwise turn to industries that continue to devastate nature by the hour. But the quality of life for so many pets, many of which are harvested from the wild and transported all across the globe for our pleasure and entertainment, remains inadequate. We’re all familiar with the goldfish that lives in a bowl, or the snake that never leaves its vivarium, and my view is that petkeeping needs to be less about owning a pet and more about recreating a slice of nature in your home that will bring out the very best in them. In this respect, I’ve come to learn that my purpose, the reason for my life-long obsession with nature, is to inspire and influence change in the pet trade that will make petkeeping more ethical and enriching for the pets we keep, providing a more authentic experience and connection to nature for us, their guardians”
